How much does Laser Eye Surgery cost?

I am 14 and the eye doctor people say that I am almost legally blind and I can’t see like anything far away at all its completely blurry and they said that I would have to get laser eye surgery when I turn 18.How much would that cost?I know its like ALOT but whats a close estimate?

I know how you feel.. I am legally blind without my glasses..
But Laser eye surgery is anywhere from 1000-2000 dollars per eye.
I’m hopfully getting it in the beginning of the next year :)

I am planning an Lasik survey in Taiwan. Could you recommend me relaible hospials with price rates?

I’m going to stay mostly in Tainani, I can also arrange to stay in Taipei.

About price should ask hospital.

Is Lasik eye surgery an outpatient procedure, or do you need to remain in the hospital?

My husband is being told that he has to remain in the hospital for a full 4 days after having LASIK done.

I have never heard about it being an inpatient procedure before. Is he getting scammed by the clinic?

the person i know who did it went home that very same day. Did you ask them if there was a problem? it seems very uncharacteristic. I’d ask.

Laser eye surgery. Have you had it? How much did it cost? Does it work?

Hey. 5 years ago, i noticed i was having trouble reading the board in the classroom. Over the last few years, my eyes have got worse and worse, and while my glasses are fantastic, they were supposed to be temp and i now need to wear them all the time. Having them on and off is causing headaches, especially since i work at a comp desk, and i need to lean in really close to be able to even see the comp screen! For those that have had laser surgery (i have mild short sight, meaning reading is NO problem but street signs are near impossible) how much did it cost, is there only one session, how is your eye sight now…? ANY info, this will be a huge thing for me as i’ll need to save for it and it better be worth it! :o )

I had my right eye laser corrected in June of 2006 and I am very happy with the results. I initially saw 20/30 in that eye, right after the surgery, but have now improved to 20/20 in that eye.Prior to having the surgery I used "mono vision" contacts, meaning I only used a contact in my right eye to see distantly.( I also had no problem seeing close) If I would have done both eyes, I would have then needed glasses to see close. In the eye that I had corrected I can now see 20/20 but I cannot read small print with it.The reason is that the surgery does not compensate for the aging eye phenomenon, so it does not restore your eyes diminishing ability to compensate. If you are young, you may not have this situation (I am 52). Right now I am very happy with my vision, I gave up my good close vision in the right eye but I gained the ability to see distantly without glasses or contacts. It was a natural choice for me since I had already been using mono vision for 2 years before I did it. I did also have dryness in that right eye for about six months but that is also now very much improved. I paid $700 for the one eye, I remember them saying the cost had to do with the degree of correction. Good Luck!

Some LASIK questions?

After reading the LASIK question on the home page, it reminded me of my dream to get it. I want to know some stuff.

1. What are the price ranges for LASIK surgery?

2. Do I really have to wear shades or goggles after they’re done fixing my eyes?

3. Does my improved vision wear off over time and require me to have the surgery done again?

Thanks!

1) It’s very variable; Start around $1400/eye

2) at least for a while. The biggest headache is is amount of drops you have to use.

3) It’s possible that over years, your vision will change, but that’s just getting older.

How likely are you to need a "touch-up" procedure after a LASIK surgery?

Assuming after a healing period following surgery that you are in the area of 20/20, in good health, and previously suffered from mild to moderate near-sightness only?

How often are touch-up’s needed? Despite the relative newness of true Lasik technology, am I safe to assume 20+ years down the road most will not need it?

Is paying the extra 1000 dollars for the lifetime touch-up plan a waste of money if all goes reasonably well the first surgery?

(The company is Lasik Plus in case you are curious)

Thanks.

15%-20%

A 1999 study published in the Jounral of Ophthalmology (1) found that somewhere between 14.6% and 19.2% of eyes treated with LASIK required touch-up (referred to as ‘retreatment’.) This study was large – over 2000 patients. These patients required treatment of both eyes for myopia – near-sightedness, and it was a few years ago, so things might have changed. I think that this is probably a good estimate for you to work with.

We know that if you don’t need a touch-up within six months, you almost certainly won’t need it after 11 years. (2) We don’t know about longer periods than that.

It terms of whether or not it is worth it, the answer is that the company selling the touch-up plan makes money – a lot of it. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t offer the plan. Don’t waste your money – if you need a touch-up, it won’t cost much over $1000 anyway.
