Is it possible for me to get LASIK eye surgery?

I’m 14 at the moment but my eyes are already failing me. The prescription for my left eye is -9.00 and for my right eye it is -9.25. I have astigmatism in both eyes and they’ve been getting worse yearly, will I be able to get LASIK when I’m old enough to?

Usually the cut-off for LASIK candidates is about 21-22 years of age,so you’ve got some time before you’re even considered. Your eyes are still developing and will continue to until you are 18.

That is something to ask your doctor.

Your power may be on the high end for LASIK by the time your eyes stop changing. Whether you are a candidate for LASIK will depend on how thick your cornea is along with some other tests. The chances are good that even if you are not a good candidate for LASIK, there will be another procedure that will reduce your need for glasses and contacts.
