Fair is relative. You will pay more for a very experienced, well educated, extremely meticulous doctor that has had the best education and had the most exposure to technology and technique study. You will pay less for lasik with a Doctor that does not have these qualities. The best costs more. I have seen $850 per eye and I have seen $4500 an eye. What is the difference? What I stated above. The $4500 and eye doctor does a lot of "oops" clean ups for patients who seek them out after a bad $850 job. Dr. Robert Maloney in Los Angeles wrote a book about lasik that was on the best seller list for a long time. You can view his book on line free of charge. He actually goes over what you should look for in an eye surgeon and the questions you should ask them. His web site is linked to his institute in LA and you can even get referrals to good doctors in your area that he feels meet his own criteria. (Dr. Maloney did the "EXTREME MAKEOVER" patients, many sports figures, celebrities, and many foreign dignitaries and regular Joe people like you and me.) I have been doing some research and it seems that if your getting the wavefront lasik then about $1,000 per eye seems to be a pretty good price.
