Save up to $48,000 by having LASIK Vision Correction

Quite candidly, the perception of many people as well as our own was that a primary determinant of the affordability of LASIK  was strongly related to the cost of having it done. We wonder if centers that charge slightly more or less than others benefit or are hurt by placing financial stress on the patients who elect to choose them.  We are concerned about how important the cost of the procedure weighs in the average patient’s decision.  Therefore, we decided to model the costs of LASIK at our current charges for the procedure  as compared to the costs of glasses, contacts, solutions, and routine eye care to see just how much of a premium was involved for those who choose this option.  We expected LASIK to cost more, and were very surpised just the opposite.  The bottom line — having LASIK saves you money!

When we started looking at the actual costs for eye care over a lifetime we knew that there was a significant cost to glasses, contacts, solutions, and examinations for this care.  We also knew that there are costs for LASIK and the costs associated with this care as well.  For this reason we never put pen to paper and we were very surprised at our findings.

After a very conservative analysis these were our results:

A 20 year-old could save over $48,000 over his/her lifetime with LASIK LASIK could pay for itself within 4 years (if you wear prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, and use contact lenses) LASIK is even cost effective for most people in their 40s and 50’s!

These statistics are based on the average U.S. life expectancy of 77.7 years, and our own estimates of vision correction costs based on current average industry prices and recommendations.

These are the basic cost assumptions of this analysis:

Prescription Eyeglasses: $200 every other year Prescription Sunglasses: $350 every other year Contact Lenses: $40 every month Contact Lens Supplies: $12 every month Annual Eye Exam (also applies to LASIK): $105 every year LASIK Cost: $3,500

Actual  prices will probably vary from our calculations, based on what your situation – your annual visits may be more or less expensive than our estimate, and you may pay a different amount for glasses or contacts or buy them at in less frequent intervals – but we hope that this will be helpful for anyone who is researching the costs and benefits of LASIK.

Importantly this model includes important eye examinations AFTER LASIK which add costs to the LASIK choice, but is far outweighed by the other costs.  The savings are probably even greater than calculated because there is an increase or escalation in the costs of things like glasses every year whereas the costs with LASIK are fixed.  Even taking into account that a small percentage of LASIK patients may need an enhancement procedure years later, there is still an obvious and significant savings by having the procedure.

What really puts this over the top is the benefit of financing at zero or a low percentage, since the time of financing takes away the large capital cost of having the procedure, and by the time that the procedure is paid for, about half of the savings has been realized.  Also, the other half can be covered with the fact that the surgery is tax deductible and/or the use of flexible savings accounts to use pre-tax dollars to cover the costs.

If you want the details, this table shows at ages in 5 year increments what the projected savings over a lifetime are for having LASIK surgery.  For instance, a 30 year old would need prescription glasses and sunglasses every two years and contact lenses and supplies totaling almost $53,000.  Even with the costs of LASIK and examinations, there is a savings of over $39,000!  Yes, some people may not wear contacts this entire time, but it is our experience that most LASIK patients are contact wearers who also have prescription glasses.  Also, we are being very conservative on glasses costs.  Some prescription glasses from designers with all the bells and whistles come in close to $1,000 just for one pair of glasses.

Based on the estimated costs of this analysis we can see that contact lenses and their associated costs are substantial.  This assumption is for daily wear disposable contacts.  Obviously for all of those who have significant astigmatism and require toric contact lenses the costs are significantly more.  By contrast, anyone who only wears glasses can subtract the contact lens costs from their personal analysis.  Even for these people, there is still a savings by having LASIK over glasses alone, or for that matter for contacts alone without glasses.  The latter is not recommended in that contact lens patients should always have glasses, at least for a backup should they not be able to wear their contacts.  Again, our experience is that most patients have a number of glasses and contacts when they come to visit us for consideration of LASIK.  This analysis also does not take into consideration the increased costs of bifocals or trifocals, which are substantially more expensive than single vision glasses.

Based on all of these factors, we believe that on average this analysis is accurate for the average person and thus demonstrates the financial benefit of LASIK clearly.  There are certainly many disclaimers that should be made on this type of an analysis and to the extent that we have missed anything important, please forgive us and feel free to comment to this post and we will make corrections.

So how often is there something that you can do which will benefit you for a lifetime, providing you with an improved quality of life AND save you money?  Here is my epiphany — I think that at some level patients have realized this fact and that is why so many millions of people worldwide have decided to have LASIK vision correction.  Not only for the lifestyle benefit, but also for the financial benefit.

In a broader context, is not a healthier America a better and more cost effective America?  Can we learn something here that has broader implications in the health care debate and legislation before us today?  The emphasis should be on what we can provide to the American people that is valuable and will ultimately decrease the cost of health care and increase human productivity which will make us net a wealthier nation.  This country is based on a combination of a free market economy and helping those who cannot afford to help themselves.  We should be able to extend this philosophy to medical, dental, and eye care.

In the meantime, I am happy to learn that LASIK has helped to provide a better life while saving money for all of those who needed it.

Here is the most impressive thing,  the epiphany.   While $3500 is a substantial amount of money, it is just about the smallest number on this chart.  Would it really matter if this was $5,000 instead?  Not much really.  So the costs for this procedure should not drive the decision to have it but rather whether it is a good idea for a particular person and also picking the best provider to have the greatest chance of realizing these savings.  Second, even people who are over 40 years of age still will have a substantial benefit.  In fact at age 40 there is still over $30,000 of savings by having LASIK.

Today, everyone is quick to LASIK eye surgery for claim of ritual vessels and enjoy the amazing world free as a bird! Attributed to the increased accessibility and dear affordability, LASIK surgery has curves to be the talk of the town in recent days.

The Lasik eye centers across the country are blossoming with a bright hope for nearsighted patients. All LASIK eye centers are equipped with a well-trained, responsible and competent, and subordinates, together with an extensive variety of payment options.

Well, when there are hundreds of Lasik eye centers in the country, meaning that everything will become possible to find a good lasik eye center having qualified and specialized doctors will not disappoint. Obviously, no one would take a threat to the visit of the doctors that he or she does not trust. Above all, a valuable and indispensable organ like the eye, one needs the affirmation of the firm, strong and authentic faith enough before embarking on the task. Now when we are talking about this issue, counsel must not only turn yellow pages and, unfortunately, fall victim to some low cost advertising at low cost surgery. Besides that, you can be bombarded with so many hidden costs that these people can have. And above all, do not negotiate the health of your eyes! A trustworthy LASIK eye center should extend a quality service, sound experience, reliability and professionalism fair to all patients at any point in time.

Now, Leta?? S discuss something about LASIK eye surgery too. lasik eye surgery is a refractive technique that works in accuracy and set the way they refract light in our eyes. When the eye’s lens captures the light i. e. the explicit part of the eye behind the iris, or rather, the colored part of the eye refracts or bends, the allocation to light after being captured by the retina, which is a group of cells in the lining on the part back of the eye.

The retina then takes these light signals and converts them into messages that can ultimately be made by the optic nerve present in our brain. But when our eyes refractive complications through farsightedness, nearsightedness or astigmatism, the light is not refracted properly to the retina and the brain tends to get a message from a blurred and fuzzy image.

Now, you should make out how LASIK eye surgery corrects this complicatedness? In LASIK surgery, laser is used to coat the cornea (the thin, transparent covering that covers the iris and lens, thus clearing the way for greater clarity of refraction). Complicated surgery and is a valuable lasting barely a few minutes when run by an experienced and skilled eye surgeon. Depending on his medical condition, the LASIK surgeon can also settle on its elasticity to the surgery and can alert of any complication, assuming that were raised.

In the interest of safety to quantify, you should talk to people who have already gone through the modus operandi and find the nearest and best lasik eye center that is affordable for you. Remember! If you love a knack Eye Surgery Center, then ITA??? S better to discuss it with patients who have had the procedure done at the facility and are willing to share their positive experience. Finally, visit the schools that are interested in assessing their organization, patient care, along with their preoperative and postoperative care, hygiene, professionalism of personnel, financial and every plausible option available to you.

Once that is done with a good research to decide on the best institute, is the time of the visit of the surgeons or consultants who perform eye surgery. Most doctors prefer to invest show the pros and cons of surgery, the cost of LASIK, postoperative complications as possible, care should be taken, the payment options available and all his suspicions, before opening with the modus operandi.

So, after putting his name on a convicted lasik eye center, speak well of their case with eye surgeons and doctors alarmed, be confident enough to withstand the procedure, and no doubt will be successful. Good luck!

An excimer laser reshapes the cornea and the flap is then replaced as a natural bandage.

Lower Order Aberrations vs. High Order Aberrations

Lasik is a simple procedure, but many patients have needs for vision correction that traditional LASIK is not designed to address. Traditional LASIK is most beneficial for patients with lower-order aberrations. Refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism are low-order aberrations can be corrected with traditional LASIK.

Improve night vision with Lasik Surgery Custom

Custom Lasik directions, not just low-order aberrations, but also more complex, difficult to detect aberrations. Patients with large pupils, sensitivity to low contrast and thin corneas may be able to improve night vision through Lasik staff. People with large pupils are not only prone to poor night vision, but also traditional LASIK can worsen the aberration.

Custom Lasik, custom results

Custom Lasik uses wavefront technology to identify refractive errors that are undetectable through traditional LASIK. The Wavefront technology creates three-dimensional graph of the cornea, the measurement of how your eye focuses light. Custom Lasik corrects visual acuity, as well as visual quality. Guided lasers through wavefront technology are more precise and individualized for each patient.

Custom Lasik may well be the best option for patients with a history of laser eye surgery. Custom Lasik may be the answer to correct past with laser eye surgery, which was unsuccessful. Lasik Surgery at Affordable Cost- High Time to Get your Vision Back!

The LASIK is such a developed system that gives your eyes an overall enhanced vision and a quality of sight, and yes lasik cost you really cheap.

Nowadays, because of complicated research and cut in the rate, the lasik has become accessible to all strata that were not a case a few years back. Though there are many issues that decide whether the lasik wave front technology is right for you or not, if one is reasonable enough about his expectations, this is the right one for you.

What are the criteria for a good lasik candidate?

The vision should be normal. That means, though it has got glasses for myopia or hypermetropia, it should be more or less a constant number and not commonly changing one.
It is better if the candidate is more than 18 years of age. As the number of glasses does not change as frequently after 18 as it does before, it is recommended after this age.
Pregnancy and lactation are contraindications for any lasik surgery because the calculated refraction shows changes during this intermediary interlude.
The applicant should be free from rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, glaucoma, herpes, cataract, diabetes, etc.
Certain prescriptions like oral Prednisone, Accutane, etc rework the refraction. So, it is not desirable to carry on with the procedure in these patients.

Why these surgeries are so ubiquitous is because of its wide affordability over the recent years. An average surgery lasik cost somewhere $850 to $2000 on an average. The lasik cost also depends upon the stipulation of the patient and its relevant complications. Also the cost is directly proportional to the know-how of the doctor, the vicinity where the functioning is going to be done and many other factors.

It is counseled not to fall pray to the low lasik cost advertisements as they may be concerning some hidden costs that may be deserved later upon. Also, do not go for any depository schemes that are non-refundable later. This is because a good lasik surgeon will do your surgical procedure without such secreted charges and will give you full particulars as regards the charges. The charge is mainly comparative to the investment done for the instruments and materials required for the lasik surgery that are very huge. The lasik cost is decided based on equipment cost, price of accessories for the surgery, management cost, patient acquisition costs, insurance cost etc.

The doctors and counselors are the only ones who can answer your queries concerning the lasik cost. The type of paraphernalia used, would-be impediments that may arise, the aptitude of the surgeon in charge, etc decide the lasik cost. Also, if the follow-up augmentation program is included, the lasik cost goes up a little. You can pay by cash, credit card; flex plans, monthly-extended payment plans and insurance profit. Payments through credit cards assent to patients to categorize and schedule the disbursement at the same time. Companies offer Flexi plans to their employees, allowing them to withhold a definite amount through payroll presuppositions, after the employee has been accepted of a lasik-fit status. And all these issues are not issues any more if you get hold of a good Lasik Vision Institute.

Thus choose your doctor, discuss the lasik cost and if fit, have a transfigured vision that does make a variation.
